Edinburgh friends! Join me at the Edinburgh launch for Ashes and Stones at the wonderful Lighthouse Books. @lighthousebks I’m honoured to be hosted by Edinburgh’s radical bookshop—an ally to so many communities. 15 February, 7pm. Ticketing information is in a🔗 in my Bee-Eye-Oh… Today, in preparation for Imbolc I went on an adventure to find Tobar na Cailleach- Well of the Cailleach-deep in a planted wood not far from where I live. The wood was impenetrable, but someone had been there before…I’ll be writing about this for my subscribers, soon. (Join us-🔗in 🐝🧿🅾️) 🌅🍭🔥🌚❄️🌨️🌙morning candy fire in the sky for the new snow moon. Thank you to everyone who came to the virtual launch of #ashesandstones and to @jesse_bullington for helping me get the book out into the world. It’s truly got a life of its own now. I hope to upload the recording later this week! 🌙🦉💜🌿🥳🍱🍶It happens once in your life- the publication day of your debut book. Here I am in my local anonymous Waterstones, which had a face-out of 10 copies. I went to see one of my favourite memorials- @carriereichardt ‘s Gallus Quines memorial to the Aberdeen witch hunts and a tribute to suffragettes and local women who protested Donald Trump in the ‘shire. I was heartbroken to see it vandalised. Yet another memorial defaced. It Affirmed the necessity and importance of this book. So it was a bittersweet day in town. I fell on the ice, and am now celebrating/drowning sorrows with sake & sushi.[edit- I just realised in the second pic my book is above a picture of he who shall not be named] ‘If they come for me in the morning, they will come for you in the night.’ -Angela Davis. Westminster is set to block Scotland’s gender recognition bill, undermining trans rights, human rights AND the democratic will of the Scottish people in one blow. I can’t let this (commodified, broken) space be silent. [EDIT- it’s amazing to me to see how many followers I have lost after posting this. Just…wow.][second edit- I have had to turn off comments. Transphobia is insidious.] 📸REPOST from @this.literary.queendom Thank you so much for this beautiful review of #ashesandstones 🖤🕯️🖤 [IG is seemingly surpressing this post. Maybe because I say “l*nk *n b*o?”] It’s cold, my wee handmade business (how I actually make a living) is kneecapped by the the cyber attack on Royal Mail- no post is leaving the UK for the foreseeable and about half of my business is overseas. It’s scary. BUT my book comes out in five days. Something I actually never thought would happen in my life is actually happening. So there’s that. Preorder a copy. Come to my virtual launch party. Write with me in my first workshop of the year! 🔗in 🐝👁️🅾️ 📸reposting @swearbythebooks Eimear’s wonderful review of #ashesandstones (her review on Goodreads really articulates the main themes in the books so well.) 🖤🕯️🖤THANK YOU. Begin as you mean to go on….My next writing workshop is a crash course in first lines, new habits and starting out. In this workshop we will discuss ways to face the blank page, modes of creating a writing ritual for yourself and as well as warding your practice in the face of upheaval and uncertainty.  Re-ignite your writing practice with a group of like minded souls.
